Zimbabwe School Exams Council Facing Calls for Legal Action Over Nullified O-Level Results

Zimbabwe’s School Examinations Council (Zimsec) is facing calls for legal action after the results of nearly 5,000 Ordinary Level (O-Level) students were nullified due to cheating. A total of 183,584 students took the 2022 O-Level exams and 130,415 of them failed to pass at least five subjects.

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has revealed that local universities consider only 15 points as the highest attainable at A Level, regardless of the student’s score. They made an exception for Tadiwanashe Mavetera, a student at Ruya Adventist Secondary School who scored an exceptional 50 points (10 As) at A Level.
