Did you know? There are 336 dimples on a regulation golf ball

The number of dimples on a golf ball is not regulated by the USGA, but most golf balls have between 300 and 500 dimples. The number of dimples and their shape affect the way the ball travels through the air, so manufacturers experiment with different configurations to find the best combination for distance and control.

The dimples on a golf ball create a thin layer of turbulent air behind the ball, which reduces drag and allows the ball to travel farther. The shape and depth of the dimples also affect the way the ball spins, which affects its trajectory and control.

The average golf ball has 336 dimples, but there are some balls with more or fewer. For example, the Titleist Pro V1 has 352 dimples, while the Bridgestone e12 Contact has 328 dimples. The dimple pattern on a golf ball is also important, and some manufacturers use a hexagonal pattern, while others use a circular pattern.

The dimples on a golf ball are a critical part of the design, and they play a major role in determining how far and how straight the ball will travel.
