Former Eskom spin doctor, Khulu Phasiwe, has been appointed the new spokesperson at the Public Protector’s office.
The post had been vacant since the resignation of Oupa Segalwe in October 2022.
Phasiwe joins the institution at a time of renewal following the impeachment of former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane last September and the appointment of her deputy, Kholeka Gcaleka, two months later.
Phasiwe left Eskom five years ago for what he termed much-needed personal time.
The Public Protector’s acting spokesperson, Ndili Msoki: “Mr Phasiwe holds an honours degree in publishing studies from the University of the Witwatersrand and brings with him over 20 years of experience in the fields of financial journalism and corporate communications, having served in both the public and private sector.”
Phasiwe resumed his duties on 1 May.
