“Mpho has run his race, and he has completed his race.”

Family friend George Makgoma said this is not an ordinary death as South Africa has lost.

“Mpho had a purpose, Mma Sebeng, tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and this young man won’t be there to say happy Mother’s Day. He will be here but watching us.

“Mpho, my boy, rest in peace. It was an honour to be part of the Sebeng family,” said George.

A colleague, Vele Mapeka, said Mpho was his friend and godfather to his child, and she knows how much he loved them.

“He was a brother from another mother. I’ve experienced the best years with Mpho. I know love because you loved me loudly. You are a performer because you performed for me every chance you got.”

Warren Masemola said Mpho asked him for acting classes but told him he was not teaching.

He also mentioned that he took him to a strip club in Nigeria.

“He was so hungry for knowledge. I don’t remember calling Mpho going to his apartment, but he always called and asked me to meet up. We did a lot with Mpho.”

Lesego Mapeka remembered his friend as someone proud of who he was and where he came from.

“I don’t know how to talk about the 17 years we shared together. I would like to talk about Mpho as my dear.

“He always asked me the most difficult questions. He was a guy that was about real life. I am proud to have had you as a friend. To have known you. You are amongst kings wherever you are. I want to remember you as that person who made dreams a real life,” Lesego said.

Words from parents read by the sister Lebogang Sebeng remembered their son from birth, first cry, and first laughter.

“Mpho, you lived up to your name, my boy. My boy, we are proud of you. We want to know that you made us proud.

“My boy, you lived your dreams. You fulfilled every destiny. We didn’t expect to be burying you so soon. Heaven’s gate celebrates the arrival of a true servant.”
