National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola said that law enforcement would leave nothing to chance following some disruptions at voting stations in parts of the country.
Chaos erupted in the Eastern Cape on Monday when taxi violence disrupted routes to hospitals, schools, and the airport.
More than 100 voting stations also failed to open their doors for special votes.
The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure met in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday to monitor the situation there.
Additional boots were deployed to the area for reinforcement to ensure elections go off without a hitch.
While the situation in Mthatha is under control for now, Masemola said that they were keeping close tabs on developments.
“We think these forces that are here are sufficient enough to deal with whatever problems will come out of this city.”
Masemola said that a total of 15 people had been arrested in the Eastern Cape so far.
Meanwhile, in Mpumalanga, police are still investigating alleged attempts to tamper with ballot boxes.
