Reign of Terror Ends: Notorious Serial Rapist and Killer Arrested in Chipinge and Chimanimani
In a development that will bring immense relief to the women of Chipinge and Chimanimani, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has announced the arrest of Daniel Chauke (62) in connection with a series of murder and rape cases.
In addition to the harrowing rape and murder incidents, Chauke was also apprehended for a case of livestock theft that occurred in the two regions between April 2022 and May 2024.

How Notorious Serial Rapist and Killer Was Arrested in Chipinge and Chimanimani
Chauke was initially arrested for a stock theft case on May 27, 2024, and was brought to the ZRP Chipinge station. During a search, detectives discovered various women’s clothing, a cell phone, and a machete hidden in a sack and bag.
The recovered items matched the description of goods stolen from a bushy area along the Usanga-Bangazani Road in Chipinge on May 26, 2024, where 45-year-old Cylia Maponese was brutally murdered. After questioning, Chauke confessed to raping and killing Cylia, as well as stealing her cell phone, cash, and clothing.

Chilling Details Emerge as Dangerous Suspect Taken into Custody
In a statement released on Tuesday, the police revealed that Chauke is also the prime suspect in a murder case from October last year, where a 54-year-old woman was raped and killed in Chikwanda Village, Usanga location, Chipinge. He is further being investigated for another murder incident in April 2024, where a 32-year-old woman was raped and killed in Matakanyi Village, Chimanimani.
Disturbingly, Chauke is also linked to seven separate rape cases that occurred between April 2022 and April 2024 in the Chipinge area.
