Teacher kills ex-wife in violent altercation

A tragic incident occurred in Rushinga where a primary school teacher is accused of fatally assaulting and killing his ex-wife during a domestic dispute last Friday.

The suspect, 47-year-old Nyasha Muchembere, was reportedly discovered hiding in the bush by police officers following the incident.

Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the unfortunate event.

“I can confirm a murder case in Rushinga where a primary school teacher allegedly assaulted his wife, who was also a secondary teacher, leading to her death in a domestic dispute,” stated Mundembe.

Details of the Incident That led to the murder

According to reports, Muchembere, who was legally prohibited by a protection order from visiting his ex-wife, approached the now-deceased Christina Bhaureni (46). The two reportedly had a confrontation over an undisclosed issue.

After the initial argument, Muchembere returned to his house but came back a few hours later armed with a screwdriver.

He knocked on Bhaureni’s window. When she looked out and saw him holding the screwdriver, she screamed for help, prompting him to flee the scene.

Muchembere did not stop there. He returned, this time carrying a wooden log. He forcibly dragged his ex-wife outside their house and struck her on the head with the log.

Continuing his assault until she lost consciousness, Muchembere then disappeared into the darkness.

The couple’s daughter, who was in the midst of cooking, discovered her mother’s lifeless body and immediately reported the incident to the police.

Authorities, accompanied by police dogs, conducted a search and eventually found Muchembere hiding in the bush.
