Zim woman murdered by husband in Scotland


A Zimbabwean woman who was brutally murdered by her husband during an altercation at a residence in West Lothian has been identified. Chitsidzo Chingyanga, also known as Veronica, originally from Zimbabwe, was transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh following the disturbance that occurred on Sunday evening in the Cunnighar Road area of Broxburn.

The 42-year-old mother was sadly pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Legal Proceedings

Following the incident, 46-year-old Kasikai Chinyanga appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday, facing charges of murder. During the court appearance, he did not enter a plea. The charges were formally brought against him on Monday.

Police were alerted to the disturbance on Cunnighar Road at approximately 19:55 on Sunday. After responding to the call, they quickly transported Veronica to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police Statement and Community Response

Detective Chief Inspector Craig Higgins expressed his condolences, saying, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased woman. We are committed to providing them with all the support they need during this incredibly difficult time.”

He also thanked the local community for their cooperation and patience while investigations were conducted.

“There will be a continued police presence in the area, but I want to reassure everyone that this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no wider threat to the public. However, anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak with our officers.”

Family’s Heartfelt Tribute

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Veronica’s family shared their grief and requested privacy. “Veronica was a much-loved mum, sister, niece, and mother to all. She will be dearly missed by many. We ask for privacy as we come to terms with our loss during this time.”

Kasikai Chinyanga is expected to make another court appearance within the next eight days as the investigation continues.
