Statement: Opening a judicial investigation against French citizens detained in Bangui
In the first official comment on the detention of two Frenchmen by government authorities in the Central African Republic. The Bangui public prosecutor’s office has announced the opening of an investigation against Ben Salem and Osmani Antonio, arrested on Monday June 10 in Bangui.
on June 10, two French nationals, Samir Antonio and Bensalem, were apprehended by the gendarmerie following a search of their home next to the French ambassador’s residence.

The statement said that the prosecutor’s office of the Bangui High Court opened a judicial investigation against them by the competent authorities, in order to clarify the circumstances and reveal the purpose of the two Frenchmen’s activities
The statement also sends a message to all those involved in the mining sector that any action threatening the country’s sovereignty and the security of its people will be prosecuted.
