Police Release Additional Information on Mazowe Dam Kombi Accident
The Zimbabwe Republic Police have revealed more details on the Mazowe accident that claimed five lives. The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a kombi collided with a truck.
The commuter omnibus was reportedly traveling from Mvurwi to Harare, while the truck was en route to Mazowe.

Police Confirm Mazowe Dam Kombi Accident
In a post shared on their official X page, the police confirmed the tragic accident, which happened at the 37-kilometre peg along the Harare-Bindura road.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred this afternoon on 18/06/24 at the 37-kilometre peg along Harare-Bindura Road.”
Details of the Deadly Accident
The police provided details on how the accident occurred. According to their report, a commuter omnibus carrying 18 passengers collided head-on with a truck carrying 3 passengers.
The kombi also reportedly side-swiped a Toyota Belta vehicle.

Casualties and Injuries: Immediate Aftermath
Tragically, five people died in the accident, while 13 others were injured. The injured were taken to Concession Hospital for treatment, and the bodies of the deceased victims were transported to the same hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

The identities of the victims are yet to be determined by their next of kin, and the police are set to release more details today.
