Murder-accused Western Cape police officer granted R1 000 bail


A murder-accused police officer attached to the Tulbagh Crime Prevention Unit has been granted R1,000 bail.

The officer made his second appearance in the Tulbagh Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, following his arrest exactly a week ago.

He is accused of shooting and killing a 40-year-old man while officials were attempting to arrest the deceased and his brother last month.

IPID’s Phaladi Shuping: “Sergeant Jonathan Waterboer was arrested by IPID on the 13th of June. He was, yesterday, granted bail of R1,000 and his case was postponed to 29 September 2024 for further investigations.
