City of Cape Town urges residents to make use of water tankers amid 3-day infrastructure maintenance

The City of Cape Town says for more than 20 areas in the Deep South and Cape Flats, taps will run dry for three days from Monday morning.

The metro has called on residents to store enough water as it will execute essential maintenance of the water supply network infrastructure in the Cape Flats.

Some areas that will have interrupted water supply in the city’s south include Wynberg, Wetton, Ottery, Muizenberg, and Diep River.

The city’s MMC for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, said the maintenance project is an important proactive investment.

“Water tankers will be available in key locations. These locations will be communicated through the ward councillor as well as social media. I do want to please encourage residents to make use of the water tankers, but also to use the water and to store the water sparingly.”
