Inter-Africa bus catches fire along Mutare-Masvingo Highway


This Tuesday morning, a severe incident occurred when an Inter-Africa bus burst into flames near Jubert Crushers on the Masvingo-Mutare highway. Remarkably, all passengers managed to evacuate without any injuries.

According to one of the passengers, the fire began in the engine compartment and swiftly spread throughout the vehicle, eventually consuming it entirely. The bus was left beyond repair after all the passengers had swiftly disembarked at the sight of the fire.

Miraculous Escape for Forty Passengers

Forty individuals aboard the bus were incredibly fortunate to emerge unscathed from the harrowing incident that took place early Tuesday morning on the Mutare-Masvingo Highway.

Official Police Statement

The police provided an official statement regarding the incident, confirming the event and the absence of casualties. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fire incident which occurred at the 11km peg along the Mutare-Masvingo Road on June 25, 2024, at approximately 0445hrs,” the statement read.

The statement further clarified that the bus was stationary at the time the fire ignited in the driver’s compartment. Thankfully, all forty passengers onboard were able to escape without any injuries.
