Authorities are puzzled following two consecutive security breaches at the Borrowdale residence of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s nephew and deputy finance minister, David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa after intruders broke into his home.
The most recent incident occurred on June 25, when an unknown intruder, dubbed the “ghost raider” by police, left behind six bullet casings. Three were found outside Mnangagwa’s main bedroom door, and the other three were discovered on the lawn of the double-storey house on Camel Road, which is under the watch of two police officers, sources revealed to ZimLive.
First Security Breach
The initial security breach took place on June 23 around 10 PM. Mnangagwa, who was watching television with his wife, alerted the police officers after hearing strange noises from the ceiling. Despite a thorough search of the house and its surroundings, the officers found nothing unusual.
Later, at approximately 11:50 PM, Mnangagwa asked the officers to inspect the roof. There, they discovered a bag containing some of the deputy minister’s belongings, including damaged documents and two Apple MacBook laptops, as well as a MacBook iPad, all of which appeared to have been intentionally destroyed.

Missing Items and Strange Discoveries
Mnangagwa reported that all the items had been taken from his bedroom. He also informed the officers that his 9mm Beretta pistol, loaded with 15 live cartridges, along with $500 in cash, was missing. In the kitchen, the intruder had taken a loaf of bread from the counter and discarded it on the floor near the door.
In another peculiar move, the intruder went to the garage and cut the driver’s headrest of Mnangagwa’s parked Land Rover Defender.
On June 24, police, including a canine unit, thoroughly searched the property but found no trace of the suspect and no signs of forced entry, according to ZimLive.

Second Incident
Then, on June 26, at around 7:30 AM, the deputy minister’s eight-year-old son found a live cartridge on the floor near his parents’ bedroom door, prompting another police call. Investigators found three more cartridges within two meters of the door and three additional ones on the lawn.
“Police are confident that the live cartridges inside the house were not present during their initial investigation,” a source stated. “The two incidents have left the police baffled, wondering how it is possible for someone to breach a house guarded by armed officers twice and then disappear without a trace.”
