A woman from Mutare has found herself in a fix with the law after she was charged and arrested for bigamy. The woman who legally got married to two men has faced justice after being reported to the courts.
The woman from Mutare, Tambudzai Muwadi aged 40, has been fined US$120 by the Mutare Magistrates Court for committing bigamy.
The case that led to the arrest of the woman
According to court records, Muwadi knowingly entered into a second marriage while her first marriage was still legally binding. Her first marriage, to Jonathan Kisi, was solemnized under the Marriage Act Chapter 05:11, and they received their marriage certificate on January 8, 2004, at the Harare Magistrates Court. Although they later separated, they did not formally dissolve their marriage.

Muwadi did not bother to divorce her first husband before making the move to marry her second husband. It was reported decades later when the concerned parties discovered that the first marriage was still valid. Muwadi was arraigned before the courts for the act of having two husbands and faced a trial.
