Eminem Shares Trailer For Upcoming Collab With Detroit Rappers

Eminem‘s next album is expected to drop soon, and its second single is now just days away from going live. On Friday (June 28), the 51-year-old rap veteran shared a black-and-white clip to hype up his next single “TOBEY” in collaboration with fellow Detroit MCs Big Sean and Babytron. Set to go live on July 2, the song will be further enhanced by a music video directed by Cole Bennett three days later.

“Tobey Maguire got bit by a spider, but see, me, it was a goat,” the youngest of the three can be heard rapping over the promo, referring to Sam Raimi’s Spiderman trilogy (2002–07).

In the teaser, Em can be seen standing next to his partners in crime as he decapitates a human-shaped chalk outline. Whereas all three of them have jumpsuits on, the D12 boss stands out as he is also wearing a Jason Voorhees-style hockey mask reminiscent of his younger days.

Last month, Eminem kickstarted the rollout of his twelfth studio album by releasing an obituary for his fictional alter ego, Slim Shady.

Published in the Detroit Free Press back in mid-May, the piece was centered on the forthcoming The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grâce).

Accompanied by a picture of the 8 Mile star wearing the mask seen above, the article stated “Fans ‘Will Never Forget’ [The] Controversial Rapper” in the subheading.

The body read: “A product of Detroit who began his career there as a rogue splinter in the flourishing underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990s, Shady first became a household name in 1999 with the debut of his playfully deranged single ‘My Name Is,’ which — along with its uniquely eye-catching video — exposed the young artist and his lyrics to a wider audience.

Eminem

“Ultimately, the very things that seemed to be the tools he used became calling cards that defined an existence that could only come to a sudden and horrific end. His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than how this character departed this world. May he truly find the peace in an afterlife that he could not find on Earth.”
