Several Versatile Academy College Students Injured After School Bus Is Involved in an Accident with a Goods Train
In a tragic development, a school bus carrying students was hit by a train at the Willton Level Crossing in Mutare this morning.
Twelve Versatile Academy College students were injured after their school bus collided with a goods train.
Fortunately they were no fatalities, the injured students has since been taken to the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.

Preliminary Investigations Point to Driver Error at Railway Crossing
According to the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), preliminary investigations indicate the bus driver failed to follow level crossing rules and tried to beat the train to the level crossing, resulting in the accident.
The driver was also reportedly putting on earphones when the accident happened and attempted to flee the accident scene.
NRZ has urged all drivers to exercise extreme caution and strictly adhere to road rules at level crossings.

The accident has got social media buzzing with mixed reactions. A section on social media is blaming the bus driver for reckless driving and failing to follow road instructions.
On the other hand, some netizens are blaming the NRZ for not putting the necessary cautionary measure to prevent accidents from happening between vehicles and trains.
