A psychiatric report into self-confessed serial killer, Sifiso Mkhwanazi has found that he acted without remorse during a 2022 murder spree.
In May, Mkhwanazi was found guilty of a litany of charges including murder, rape, and defeating the ends of justice.
On Wednesday, the Johannesburg High Court heard from a psychiatrist, Dr Indhrin Chetty, who conducted numerous evaluations on Mkhwanazi and found that he had no regret for the crimes committed.
The psychiatric report revealed Mkhwanazi’s State of mind is compromised by factors including drug use, previous abuses, rejection and a lack of ambition.
The report also found that Mkhwanazi has never had a healthy romantic relationship and started engaging in sexual relations with sex workers in 2017 when he was 15, which happens to be the year that his mother passed away.
“He did not display any emotion that has shown genuine remorse for what he has done,” said Chetty, adding: “May I just add that he also did admit that if he had not been caught, he most likely would’ve continued with the offences?”
Chetty believes Mkhwanazi remains a danger to society and should be harshly sentenced.
