Home Affairs Minister, Doctor Leon Schreiber, has extended an invitation to those who may be interested in serving on the Immigration Advisory Board. The deadline for application to serve on the advisory board is 7 September. Schreiber announced the re-establishment of the board during his budget speech last month.
The board aims to provide the minister with evidence-based information on critical matters within the department. An example of this is the court-ordered process of consultation on the future of the Zimbabwean exemption permit.
“If you look at what the law says, you can, through this mechanism, bring together people from Home Affairs and other departments, organized labour, business, independent experts, practitioners, draw on the strength of people to help deal with difficult challenges in this country when it comes to immigration policy,” says Schreiber.
