Malema Expresses Confidence in EFF’s Future in KwaZulu-Natal Amid Decline

Despite a significant loss of voter support in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema remains optimistic about the party’s potential for growth in the province. Over the weekend, the EFF held regional general assemblies where the KZN branches accounted for the party’s 8% decline in the May election.

Malema’s weekend activities included addressing the funeral of Emily Twala, the mother of the EFF’s KZN chairperson, Mongezi Twala. Despite the party’s poor showing in KZN, which resulted in securing only two seats in the provincial legislature, Malema did not take any action against the provincial leadership.

During his address at the funeral, Malema defended Twala’s efforts, emphasizing the challenges faced by the EFF in KZN. He highlighted the uMkhonto weSizwe Party as a significant obstacle and assured that the EFF would not allow similar setbacks in the future. Malema expressed confidence in rebuilding the party in KZN, stating, “We will never allow that shock to happen again, and we will rebuild the EFF of your son here in KwaZulu-Natal.”

On Monday, regional leaders are expected to present their reports to the party’s war council, marking the next step in the EFF’s efforts to regain momentum in the province.
