Public Outrage Erupts as Justice Wadyajena Reclaims Seized Vehicles
In a move that has ignited a firestorm on social media, former Gokwe legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena has successfully reclaimed his luxury vehicles and haulage trucks following a decisive High Court ruling.
The court directed the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and the Prosecutor General (PG) to comply with a previous order for the return of Wadyajena’s assets.

Delayed Compliance by ZACC
Despite an earlier court order mandating the return of Wadyajena’s property, ZACC delayed the process, citing ongoing investigations. The assets, which include a fleet of 23-tonne haulage trucks and a Lamborghini SUV, were seized in August 2022 as part of an investigation into allegations of a $5.8 million fraud involving the Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco).
The High Court’s recent Writ of Judgment clarified the matter, instructing ZACC and the PG to release the vehicles immediately. The judgment stated,
“The applicants are granted leave to execute the judgment HH 165/24 granted in case number HCH 4400/23 pending the determination of appeal numbers SC 250/24 and SC 254/24. The first and second respondents pay costs of the application jointly and severally, the one paying the other to be absolved.”

The news of Wadyajena regaining his vehicles has triggered widespread outrage on social media. Many Zimbabweans expressed their frustration with the development, criticizing the justice system for what they perceive as a pattern of leniency toward the powerful.
Zimbabweans have voiced concerns that the judicial system is failing to deliver justice, particularly in cases involving corruption. The return of Wadyajena’s assets has been met with skepticism, with many questioning whether true accountability will ever be enforced for those in positions of power.
