Missing Person Report Leads to Rape Investigation
According to a report by ZimLive, the girl’s family filed a missing person report at Budiriro police station last week, claiming that Chidziva was hiding her. The situation has since escalated, leading to the opening of a rape docket at Harare Central police station. The police confirmed on Friday evening that a report of rape had been filed against Chidziva, but they did not specify whether he had been arrested. They stated that more details would be released in due course.

Happymore Chidziva Accused of Rape by Wife’s Relatives
A family spokesperson told ZimLive that Chidziva was responsible for the minor, who is a cousin of his wife. They allege that Chidziva had been involved in a sexual relationship with the girl, supported by evidence from tests at a Harare rape clinic showing she is sexually active. The girl has been missing for nearly two weeks, with her family claiming she was last seen with Chidziva.
“She has been gone almost two weeks. We suspect he is hiding her somewhere. Chidziva should release the girl and let the law take its course. I just want justice for my brother’s daughter. He cannot just come and ruin my family,” said Sitabile Dewa, an aunt to the minor.
Sources close to the case revealed that Chidziva had offered to help the girl find a job. Although he initially agreed to speak to ZimLive, he later declined. In a voice note to the girl’s aunt, Chidziva admitted to providing transport for the girl on the day she went missing but denied being in a romantic relationship with her.

Outrage Erupts Following Report
After the news broke on X via ZimLive, Zimbabweans expressed their outrage and called for Happymore Chidziva’s arrest if he is guilty of raping his wife’s relative. However, some urged caution, asking the public to refrain from rushing to judgment and to allow the legal process to unfold. Here are some of the comments:
@Citizen4chang:
if he did that he deserves to be locked behind bars and that has nothing to do with politics
@FadzoBenjamin1:
The law should be blind, let him have his day in court where evidence is tried. Public opinion has already found him guilty. Why?
@mablerainstorm:
Chikurubi waiting….. Haaaa anyura bvondo. Life is rough sometimes. I hope he didn’t do it. Of course the regime will capitalize on it.
