Russia Launches Intercontinental Ballistic Missile at Ukraine in Historic Combat Use. In a significant escalation of its military operations, Russia has launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Ukraine, marking the first known combat use of such a weapon in history. The strike underscores Moscow’s increasing reliance on advanced weaponry amid the prolonged conflict.

ICBMs are typically designed for long-range strikes and are equipped with immense destructive power. Military experts suggest that this development raises concerns about the potential expansion of weaponized technology in warfare.

Details surrounding the target and extent of damage remain limited, with Ukrainian officials condemning the act as a severe provocation. Global leaders have called for restraint, emphasizing the risks of such escalations on international stability.

This unprecedented action highlights the growing complexities and dangers within the ongoing conflict, further straining diplomatic efforts for resolution.Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at Ukraine for the first time, Kyiv said Thursday.

Moscow launched an attack on the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro Thursday morning, targeting critical infrastructure. Ukraine’s air force said in a statement on Telegram that the ICBM — a powerful long-range weapon capable of striking targets thousands of kilometers away and carrying nuclear warheads — was fired from Astrakhan in southern Russia.

“No information on casualties or injuries has been reported so far,” the air force added. The escalation comes after U.S. President Joe Biden last weekend authorized the use of American-supplied long-range missiles by Kyiv to strike targets inside Russia, finally responding to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s demands that Western allies loosen restrictions on donated weapons.

The Kremlin warned there would be consequences for the move. Ukraine also reportedly fired British Storm Shadow cruise missiles at targets on Russian territory this week.

Russia, for its part, has bombarded Ukraine with Iranian killer drones and North Korean missiles during its 1,000-day invasion.
