WATCH: Harare Man Steals Cash Box Just Four Days on the Job
In an incident that serves as a reminder to “never judge a book by its cover“, a Harare man stole a cash box from a restaurant where he was learning the ropes to become a barista.

How the Theft Happened
Four days into his barista training, Tonderai Goredema stole a cash box containing approximately US$1,000 from a restaurant in Harare. The cash box was securely hidden in a cupboard at the front office.
The restaurant’s owners narrated how Tonderai had stolen the cash box. They said Tonderai had seen the cashier counting the float before her shift. When the cashier stepped out to assist with setup, Tonderai seized the opportunity to steal the cash box before making a quick getaway.
CCTV footage captured him leaving the premises in a hurry, and he even abandoned his phone in his rush to escape capture. You can watch the incident below:

Zimbos React as Harare Man Steals Cash Box Four Days On the Job
The restaurant’s owner appealed for information through a post shared by Crime Watch Zimbabwe on X (formerly Twitter). After Crime Watch Zimbabwe shared the post, Zimbabweans flooded the comment section with reactions. Some remarked that the amount of money Tonderai took a gamble on and sacrificed his life for was not worth it. Others suggested that the restaurant owners should place a bounty on Tonderai’s head if they wanted him captured swiftly. Here are some of the reactions:
