Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has rejected claims of a mass departure of members from his party. In recent months, several senior figures have resigned, with some joining the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party or the Patriotic Alliance (PA). However, Malema downplayed the significance of these departures during a media briefing on Monday.
He addressed the exit of high-profile leaders such as former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu, Dali Mpofu, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, and Mzwanele Manyi, stating that despite the departures, the party was not in crisis. Malema challenged critics, saying they could not provide a list of 15 members who had left the EFF, nor could they identify any councillors from rural municipalities who had joined MK.
He concluded that the EFF had already seen all expected departures and emphasized that the party was now united and focused on its objectives.
