Four adults have been arrested for assault on minors


The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed that four adults have been arrested for involvement in the brutal assault of two minors, aged 8 and 11. The attack occurred on November 20, 2024, in Muchenje Village, in the Mutumba area of Madziwa.

The Disturbing Incident: A Video Capture

The horrific scene unfolded in a shocking video shared by Crime Watch Zimbabwe. The footage shows two minor boys being savagely beaten by an adult male dressed in blue trousers.

Throughout the video, the man can be heard ordering the boys to strip so that he could continue the assault. One of the children, visibly distressed, informed the assailant that he was not wearing any underwear, but the man callously responded that it made no difference.

The violence did not end there. As the assault persisted, onlookers, including a woman, cheered the perpetrator on. Another woman, armed with a small log, joined the attack and began striking the children on their heads. Despite her violent actions being interrupted by a bystander who attempted to restrain her, the woman seemed eager to resume the abuse.

The Arrests: Key Individuals Taken Into Custody

The four individuals arrested in connection with this brutal assault include Theresa Kavhuta, aged 53, Sabina Mucherahowa, aged 37, Bridget Tshuma, aged 28 and Leopold Tom, aged 30.

These individuals are reportedly neighbours of the victim’s mother. The authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and further legal actions will be pursued to ensure justice for the victims.

Physical and Emotional Impact on the Victims

Following the assault, both boys have been reported to be in severe distress. One of them is unable to walk and is in desperate need of medical attention. The injuries sustained during the flogging are believed to be serious, though medical professionals are still assessing the full extent of the harm caused.
