Mabuli was fatally shot by unknown assailants who then fled with his Toyota Fortuner.
Fatal Hijacking Incident
The crime occurred around midnight while Mabuli and a woman were sitting in his parked Toyota Fortuner at his workshop. According to Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, three armed men approached the vehicle and demanded the keys at gunpoint.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was with a woman inside the parked white motor vehicle with Limpopo registration when three unknown Africans approached them and demanded the vehicle’s keys at gunpoint,” said Ledwaba.
Refusal Leads to Tragedy
After forcing Mabuli out of the vehicle, the assailants searched him and ordered him to sit in the back of the car. Mabuli refused, leading to a fatal escalation.
“The accused shot him and fled the scene in his motor vehicle,” explained Ledwaba. The value of the stolen vehicle has not yet been determined.
