Dynamos FC have successfully defended their Chibuku Super Cup title, clinching victory 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Ngezi Platinum in a thrilling final.

The match began at a fast pace, with Dynamos dominating early possession and creating several chances through Valentine Kadonzvo. Ngezi Platinum responded strongly, with Never Tigere hitting the woodwork from a free kick, and Obriel Chirinda having a goal ruled out for offside after intercepting a backpass and finishing past the goalkeeper.

The high tempo continued into the second quarter of the match, and it was Chirinda who broke the deadlock in the 24th minute, scoring a stunning volley that caught Dynamos goalkeeper Martin Mapisa off his line.

Dynamos’ response was primarily driven by Kadonzvo, who continued to threaten the Ngezi defense and created numerous opportunities. However, his efforts were hampered when he picked up an injury and was replaced by Emmanuel Paga in the 38th minute. The first half ended with Ngezi leading 1-0.

The second half began slowly, with both teams struggling to create clear chances. Play picked up around the 60th minute, with Dynamos having two shots from Tanaka Shandirwa and Paga cleared off the line. Sadney Urikhob also had a chance, but his effort was brilliantly saved by Ngezi keeper Chadya. Urikhob came close again soon after, but Chadya was again equal to the task.

Dynamos finally broke through in the 80th minute when Fredrick Ansa-Botchway scored a fantastic equalizer, bringing the score level at 1-1. With no further goals in regulation or extra time, the match went to penalties.

In the shootout, Dynamos triumphed 4-2, with Mapisa saving two of Ngezi’s penalties. Ngezi, on the other hand, failed to stop any of the Glamour Boys’ kicks.

The win saw Dynamos make history as the first team to successfully defend the Chibuku Super.
