Namibian Opposition Party Blames ZANU-PF for Election Chaos

By A Correspondent

The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) of Namibia has accused Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU-PF, of causing chaos in the country’s November 27 elections.

The party is calling for international election observers to condemn what they describe as significant irregularities during the voting process.

Speaking at a protest held at the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek, where various observer missions were presenting their initial reports, Ivan Skrywer, the LPM’s representative, directly pointed the finger at ZANU-PF for allegedly interfering with Namibia’s Electoral Commission (ECN) and its election procedures.

Skrywer stated, “We are demanding that the international observers speak out against the irregularities that marred the elections. ZANU-PF’s interference in our electoral process has been evident, and we cannot allow this to go unchallenged.”

The protest, which was attended by members of the LPM and other concerned Namibians, came amid growing accusations of election mismanagement, and the LPM is pushing for international condemnation of these issues. The LPM has specifically called for a thorough investigation into the role that external influences may have played in disrupting the democratic process.

“The actions of ZANU-PF have compromised the integrity of our elections,” Skrywer added.

“This interference has raised serious doubts about the transparency and fairness of the entire electoral process.”

As international observers began presenting their preliminary reports, many were focused on the irregularities cited by the LPM, adding to the growing pressure for accountability in Namibia’s electoral system.

The situation has sparked heated debates among opposition parties and civil society groups, with many calling for swift action to address these claims.

The allegations of foreign interference in Namibia’s elections are significant, as the country strives to maintain its democratic principles.

The LPM’s protest signals ongoing dissatisfaction with the election’s handling, with calls for broader international support to ensure that the voices of Namibians are heard and respected in future elections.
