Struggling Harare Regime Intensifies Revenue Collection Efforts
By A Correspondent
Amid growing economic challenges, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration is facing a range of escalating financial problems, including rising inflation, a deepening fiscal deficit, and mounting pressure on public services.
In response to these urgent issues, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has rolled out an electronic tariff system designed to streamline revenue collection and reduce the risk of financial leakages that have plagued the country in recent years.
This initiative follows the announcement of the 2025 National Budget, where the government outlined several measures to enhance revenue generation.
These efforts aim to address the increasing fiscal shortfall and finance essential government activities, as Zimbabwe seeks to stabilize its economy and improve its public financial management. The electronic system is seen as a crucial step in improving efficiency and ensuring that the country’s tax base is better managed in the face of worsening economic conditions.
