Concerns Over Mphoko’s Cardboard Box Coffin

Zimbabweans have expressed concerns over the use of a “cardboard box coffin” for former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko.
Many believe this is a deliberate move by the regime to diminish his legacy.
Mphoko passed away in India last week and is set to be buried in Bulawayo.
It is reported that he had expressed his wish not to be laid to rest at the national shrine.
One social media user, Derreck, commented: “Vazogona kumuisa mubhokisi rekuMbare” (They’ve managed to put him in a Mbare-style box).
Another observer remarked: “Yowe, ko zvaauya ari mu cardboard box nhaimi?” (Wow, so he’s arriving in a cardboard box?).
Tendai Tungwarara also questioned the choice of coffin: “Coffin ummmm, what type is this?”
