Warriors Star Struggles With Injury Setbacks – Eduzim News

Derby County head coach Paul Warne has addressed the ongoing situation regarding Tawanda Chirewa’s loan spell at the club, following the midfielder’s recent injury setbacks.

Chirewa, who joined the Rams on a season-long loan from Premier League side Wolves in August, has struggled for game time due to a torn thigh muscle that sidelined him for nearly two months. The Warriors international has made just two league appearances since his arrival.

However, after completing his recovery, Chirewa resumed training with the senior team last week. Warne, speaking to Derby Telegraph, emphasized that there are no plans to cut short Chirewa’s loan deal. He stated that the player must now earn his place in the squad through hard work and competition.

“He’s got himself back fit and now he has to get back into the squad,” Warne said. “To do that, he needs to train better than everybody else. He has to fight for his spot. If he does that and performs well, he’s definitely a player I want to keep.”

Warne further clarified that neither Wolves nor Chirewa’s agent have contacted him regarding the player’s future, adding that it was too early to make any decisions.

“It hasn’t worked out for him or for us as well as it could have simply because he got injured,” Warne concluded. “But he’s here for the season and has looked good in training.”
