Bushiri Resurfaces, Attacks Chris Brown

South Africa-Fugitive Malawian preacher and self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri has resurfaced online, launching a scathing attack on the South African media for what he termed “hypocrisy” in their praise of American singer Chris Brown’s weekend shows in Johannesburg.

Brown’s double performance at the iconic FNB Stadium drew a combined crowd of 94,000 fans, marking one of the biggest musical events of the year.

However, Bushiri, posting on his X account, claimed his religious gatherings at the same venue had far exceeded these numbers and accused local media of bias.

“So Chris Brown’s concert at FNB Stadium drew a crowd of 94,000 and the South African weirdo media is going crazy crowning him ‘the biggest crowd puller.’ What a shame. Hate is really an animal,” Bushiri wrote. “We recorded an all-time high of 110,000 people attending my Crossover Night prayers for four consecutive times. Despite FNB Management confirming this publicly, no South African media wrote about it till date.”

He further accused the media of “hating men of God” while celebrating what he described as “evil.”

Bushiri’s comments come amid lingering controversy surrounding his dramatic exit from South Africa.

The preacher and his wife fled to Malawi in 2020 while out on bail following their arrest on charges of fraud, money laundering, and corruption involving millions of rands.

Despite ongoing legal efforts, south African authorities have since struggled to extradite the pair.

Bushiri’s remarks sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some defending his claims of double standards while others questioned his moral authority given his unresolved criminal cases.

Chris Brown’s concerts, meanwhile, have been hailed as a major success, with fans celebrating the international star’sreturn to South Africa after a decade-long absence.
