Simba Bhora coach Joel Luphahla has admitted that his team’s lack of goals has been their biggest weakness, leading to a poor run of results that has seen them fall behind in the title race.
The defending champions lost further ground after a 2-1 defeat to Ngezi Platinum Stars, extending their winless streak to three matches.
Speaking after the game, a visibly dejected Luphahla conceded that the title was now out of their hands.
“We should have taken our chances — that’s always been the story for us lately. We create a lot of chances but fail to convert them,” he said.
“I feel sorry for the fans who travelled all the way to support us, only to go back home empty-handed. Now it’s no longer in our control, but we’ll keep pushing.”
Simba Bhora took the lead in the 42nd minute through Isaskar Guribab after a defensive mix-up, but Ngezi Platinum Stars hit back through Nisbert Muzenda before Farai Madhananga sealed the win in the 80th minute.
