Tinotenda Kadewere’s hopes of featuring at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have been dealt a major blow after the Zimbabwean striker suffered a serious injury.
Kadewere tore the medial meniscus in his right knee during a training session last week and has since undergone surgery.
In a statement, his club Aris Thessaloniki confirmed:
“Unfortunately, the news is not good for Tino Kadewere. According to the MRI results, the 29-year-old Zimbabwe international striker, who was injured in training, suffered a torn medial meniscus in his right knee and will undergo immediate surgery.”
The operation is expected to sideline Kadewere for at least three months, potentially ruling him out of the 2025 AFCON finals scheduled for December.
The setback comes less than two weeks after the forward had just returned from a muscle injury that kept him out for three weeks.
