Emmaculate Msipa set to make history with TP Mazembe in CAF Women’s Champions League

Mighty Warriors captain Emmaculate Msipa is set to become the first player from Zimbabwe to feature in the CAF Women’s Champions League when her team, TP Mazembe, begin their title defence at this year’s tournament set for November 8 in Egypt.

Msipa, who recently shared her excitement about joining the team, said she is focused on delivering her best.

“By the end of the season, I hope to help TP Mazembe win silverware and compete strongly in CAF competitions,” she said.

The Congolese giants, who lifted the continental crown last year, will compete in Group B alongside ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire), Gaborone United (Botswana) and JKT Queens (Tanzania).

Speaking to CAF online, TP Mazembe coach Lamia Boumehdi says her side remains united and motivated despite losing several key players ahead of the campaign.

“The spirit is excellent. Even with a significantly changed squad, the players are united and determined,” said Boumehdi.

“Losing eight key players was inevitable, their success gave them opportunities abroad, which we celebrate. Mazembe is bigger than any individual. We have built a new core of talented players who know the responsibility they carry. They want to prove that Mazembe remains strong, regardless of change.”
