Former Warriors captain and Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande has thrown his weight behind South African coach Pitso Mosimane to take charge of the Zimbabwe senior men’s football team(Warriors).
In a post shared on his social media platforms, Katsande expressed admiration for Mosimane’s passion and commitment to Zimbabwean players, urging ZIFA to consider him for the post.
“ZIFA, what are we waiting for? This man loves Zimbabwean players with all his heart,” he said.
Mosimane, one of Africa’s most successful coaches, boasts an impressive résumé that includes guiding Mamelodi Sundowns to the CAF Champions League title in 2016 and leading Al Ahly to five major titles.
He recently managed Abha Club in Saudi Arabia.
Katsande further explained to Kickoff why he thinks Mosimane is the right candidate
“For me, from where I’m sitting, it’s something I thought, since he is available, and looking at his African experience, why not? He can help us, and he knows Zimbabwe players who played in the PSL.
“At this point, we need somebody who’s going to hit the ground running as quickly as possible, and if you look around, he is the only one who fits very well for the position. Why not give it a try?”
