DJ Shimza has raised concerns over the increasing number of festivalgoers falling victim to pickpockets at major events across South Africa.
The popular DJ and producer, who performs both locally and internationally, took to social media to highlight the growing problem and called for urgent solutions.
According to Shimza, it has become almost impossible to identify those behind the thefts, as they blend in with the crowd like any other attendee.
He pointed out that even those who try to stay alert can easily become targets.
“We need a solution for pickpockets at events, as it’s almost impossible to spot them; they don’t even look a certain way,” Shimza said.
“You’d also want to say people must be aware of their surroundings, but it’s impossible at festivals.”
Many social media users responded to his post, sharing their own experiences and agreeing that these thieves operate discreetly, often without raising suspicion.
