Warriors coach speaks amid growing tensions in camp

Warriors head coach Marian Marinica has finally broken his silence amid growing tensions in camp.

Marinica says he is not going to change his approach despite reports of chaos  in the national team camp where players are reportedly resisting his new system and methods.

The Warriors played Algeria on Thursday and are set to face Qatar on Monday in their final friendly match.

The matches are part of the team’s preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations set for Morocco next month.

Marinica, however, remains unmoved while defending his actions.

He believes that the Warriors’ poor run, 10 matches without a win, only five draws and just five goals scored, is proof that major changes are overdue.

“They have to change, and I am here to help them change,” he said.

“Either you change or you are changed. We must select the most in-form players at this point in time to take us to AFCON and achieve what we want.

“The country has to be behind us, and the players must accept that at the end of the day we are here for them and they are all going to become the heroes.”

He added that the Warriors are part of a larger national structure that expects players to look at how others have earned their place.

“It’s not a club. They are part of a bigger pool. We expect them to look back home to see how others got what it takes,” Marinica said.

“With my colleagues and coaches back home, we will give them assignments. I want to see who the best and most in-form players are at the moment.”
