The Warriors finally ended a year-long winless run across all competitions with a 2-1 victory over Qatar in a friendly match on Monday.
Zimbabwe’s goals came from Munashe Garan’anga and Bill Antonio.
Garan’anga equalised in the 24th minute with a header from Godknows Murwira’s corner, cancelling out Qatar’s early opener scored by Mohamed Khaled Gouda in the 9th minute.
Antonio, introduced as a half-time substitute, put the Warriors ahead in the 74th minute to seal the win.
The result marks Zimbabwe’s first victory since last year’s triumph over Namibia. It also gives coach Marian Marinica his first win as Warriors coach, just over a week after his appointment.
