The Zimbabwe senior women football team (Mighty Warriors) will depart for Malawi today ahead of Three Nations Women’s Tournament starting tomorrow at Bingu National Stadium.
Zimbabwe will open their campaign with a clash against the hosts, Malawi at 5pm before playing Zambia on December 2 in the fina game of the tournament.
The team with the highest number of points will be crowned champions.
Mighty Warriors are returning to action since February when they last played againt Angola in South Africa in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
ZIFA CEO Yvonne Manwa promised more games for the team.
“We just want the ladies to start participating to build up for future competitions. So, it was important for them to participate during the window in Malawi.
“So, we are excited about that. We recently launched the Women’s Football Strategy. So, this is part of the strategy. Participation is one of the things that we wanted to do. And as we prepare again, like I said, for the competitions ahead.”
