Official: Highlanders part ways with coach Pieter De Jongh after just four months in charge

Highlanders have officially confirmed that they will not renew Pieter De Jongh’s contract, bringing an end to his four-month spell at the club.

A statement by Highlanders reads:

“Highlanders Football Club wishes to inform its stakeholders and the wider football community that, after constructive discussions and by mutual agreement, the club and Head Coach Pieter De Jongh have decided not to extend their working relationship beyond the current contract, which runs until 31 December 2025.

“The club expresses its sincere appreciation to Coach De Jongh for his professionalism, commitment, and positive contribution during his tenure. His experience and leadership have been valuable to the team, and we thank him for his hard work and dedication.

“Both parties part ways on good terms, and the club wishes Coach De Jongh the very best in his future coaching endeavours.

“Further updates regarding the club’s technical setup for the 2026 season will be announced in due course.”

The Dutchman joined Bosso at the end of July on a short-term deal, tasked with steadying the team during a challenging period. He took over the reins from interim coach Try Ncube.

However, results did not improve as hoped, with De Jongh managing just one league victory during his tenure. The remainder of his matches were largely draws, leaving the club’s leadership unconvinced about extending his stay.

Overall, De Jongh finished with one win, one defeat and seven draws in the league — a run that left Highlanders fighting for survival until the final matchday.

In the Chibuku Super Cup, Bosso were eliminated in the semifinals by rivals Dynamos.
