Warriors begin AFCON preparations – Soccer24

The Zimbabwe national team has begun preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled for December.

The locally based players named in the 55-man provisional squad announced last week have reported for camp in Harare.

A statement from ZIFA reads:
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) wishes to inform all stakeholders that the Zimbabwe Warriors’ locally based contingent is officially reporting for camp in Harare today as part of the nation’s structured preparations for the upcoming AFCON tournament to be held in Morocco.”

“This preliminary phase affords the selected players one to five days to demonstrate their readiness, sharpness, and tactical suitability, as Head Coach Marian Mario Marinica and his technical staff conduct rigorous assessments ahead of the final squad consolidation for AFCON.”

“Formal training will commence tomorrow afternoon, with the confirmed venue to be announced in due course.”

The final 23-man squad for the 2025 AFCON will be selected from the 55-man preliminary list.

The tournament will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026 in Morocco, with Zimbabwe among the participating nations.
