Wolves coach delivers Marshall Munetsi bombshell, midfielder likely to miss AFCON

Marshall Munetsi is set to miss the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after suffering an injury last Wednesday.

The midfielder sustained a calf injury during Wolverhampton Wanderers’ match against Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League. He received the knock shortly after coming on as an 85th-minute substitute.

According to an update from Wolves coach Rob Edwards, Munetsi could miss up to six weeks, effectively ruling him out of the 2025 AFCON.

The tournament will start on 21 December in Morocco, less than two weeks from now.

Speaking after the 4-1 EPL defeat to Manchester United on Monday, Edwards told The Express & Star: “It’ll be weeks, I don’t know how many at the moment, but at the moment it’s looking like at least six weeks, I think.”

Meanwhile, the final 23-man Warriors squad for the AFCON tournament is expected to be announced this week.
