Tawanda Maswanhise pays tribute to Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca for his contribution

Tawanda Maswanhise has paid tribute to current Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca for his role in developing his career.

Maresca coached Maswanhise at Leicester City, and the Warriors striker was given his first senior appearance by the Italian coach.

The Zimbabwean international is now in his second year at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, where he was recently named the league’s Player of the Month for November.

In an interview with BBC Scotland, Maswanhise paid homage to Maresca and another Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers, who was in charge of the club in earlier seasons.

“Having the experience to work under them was really good,” said the striker. “I’d like to say I’ve learned quite a lot, adapting to two high-level managers.

“When I was with Brendan, it was more about getting used to the environment. Enzo needed a platform – he was really good tactically.”

Maswanhise has so far scored 12 goals in all competitions this season and is currently leading the league’s scoring chart with eight goals.
