Highlanders have reportedly proposed a new technical team post for Benjani Mwaruwari after the club’s board decided against appointing the former Warriors and Manchester City striker as the new head coach.
Bosso are looking for a new coach to replace Pieter De Jongh, whose contract will not be renewed at the end of this year.
Mwaruwari had been picked by club benefactor Wicknell Chivayo to become the new head coach, with the businessman also pledging to pay his wages.
However, the Bulawayo giants are understood to be against Chivayo’s proposal and are considering appointing Mwaruwari as a technical director instead, while retaining the power to choose a head coach of their own.
Mwaruwari’s only stint as a coach in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League lasted just six months in 2022, after he was sacked by Ngezi Platinum.
