FIFPRO backs Munetsi after Warriors AFCON omission

FIFPRO has expressed sympathy with its member Marshall Munetsi following his omission from Zimbabwe’s Warriors squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Munetsi was left out of the final squad after picking up a calf injury while on club duty with Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) later explained that medical, insurance and regulatory requirements could not be completed before CAF’s submission deadline, making him unavailable for selection.

Replaying to Munetsi’s statement posted on Facebook, FIFPRO said:

“We’re with you, Marshall.”

Beyond his role on the pitch, Munetsi is a respected figure in player representation. He is a member of the FIFPRO Global Player Council and also sits on the FIFPRO Africa Board, where he contributes to discussions on player welfare and governance across the continent.
