Zimbabwe national team captain Marvelous Nakamba has given his assessment of the Warriors’ Group B opponents ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Zimbabwe have been drawn alongside Egypt, Angola and South Africa. The Warriors will open their campaign against Egypt on 22 December, before facing Angola four days later and concluding the group stage against South Africa.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Nakamba said the national team stands a chance against its opponents but must remain focused on delivering results.
He said: “Football is all about competition, and I think every group is difficult. We are facing Angola in the first match then Angola before finishing against South Africa, but I think we have to focus on ourselves, have a perfect game plan and fight for the country.”
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe are the lowest-ranked team in Group B ahead of the tournament. The Warriors have never progressed beyond the group stage at AFCON, while their three opponents have either won the tournament before or reached the knockout rounds.
