Limpopo-based Lekompo star Shebeshxt has suffered a major legal setback after the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court denied his bail application, effectively keeping him behind bars through the festive season.

The controversial hitmaker, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, appeared in court on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, to hear the outcome of his bail bid following his arrest in November over a road rage incident linked to attempted murder charges.

After days of arguments from both the defence and the state, the magistrate ruled against granting him bail.

As a result, the Ambulance hitmaker will remain in custody until his next scheduled court appearance in February 2026.

Footage of Shebeshxt in court quickly made its way onto social media, with an online user sharing a clip of the moment the decision was delivered.

The post sparked a wave of reactions from fans and critics alike, many expressing shock and disappointment that the musician would be spending Christmas and New Year’s behind bars.

In the viral post, the user wrote: “𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗛𝗫𝗧 𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗔𝗜𝗟. The Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo has denied bail to Lekompo musician Shebeshxt… As a result, he will remain in custody until his next court appearance on 18 February 2026.”

While some social media users sympathised with the artist and his family, others argued that the court’s decision was justified given the seriousness of the charges he is facing.

The ruling has once again placed Shebeshxt at the centre of public debate, with his legal troubles continuing to overshadow his music career.
