
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a new prize money structure for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the tournament winners set to receive a 43% increase.
The announcement was made on Saturday following a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee (EXCO) in Rabat, Morocco, a day before the kick-off of the tournament.
Prize money for this year’s AFCON winners has been increased to US$10 million, up from the US$7 million received by the 2023 champions, Ivory Coast.
Prize allocations for other finishing positions remain unchanged. The runners-up will receive US$4 million, while the two semi-finalists will each pocket US$2.5 million.
New AFCON Prize Money Structure:
Group stage (4th place): US$500,000
Group stage (3rd place): US$700,000
Round of 16: US$800,000
Quarter-finalists: US$1.3 million
Semi-finalists: US$2.5 million
Runners-up: US$4 million
Winners: US$10 million
